The leader in natural and organic personal care manufacturing

Service Offering

Contract manufacturing

We offer contract manufacturing services, including custom product formulation, packaging development, testing, filling and shipping to mid-stage and large-cap beauty companies and retailers. Due to scale requirements, we generally do not work with early stage companies or startups, although we assess every inquiry on a case by case basis. See our Criteria to learn more about the customers we partner with.

Custom product formulation

We offer a customizable library of hundreds of certified natural and organic proprietary formulas, most of which are already successfully tested and ready for market. We can also develop new certified natural or organic formulas based on your specific product or ingredient requirements. Our innovative R&D team focuses on developing high quality, efficacious products using a broad range of natural and organic ingredients.

Packaging development

Through our strong relationships with the leading packaging suppliers, we offer packaging development services to help you source the leading, cost effective packaging solution.

Our product development offering and broad formulation assortment spans four key categories: stability, compatibility, freeze/thaw, preservative challenge and can help coordinate RIPT and clinical performance testing.

We offer both automated and customized “by-hand” filling solutions across a broad range of products categories, including: bath & body, skin care, hair care and baby care. We currently do not fill traditional color cosmetic products, such as lipsticks, shadows and foundations or any OTC/FDA regulated personal care products.

Turnkey Manufacturing

We also offer end-to-end turnkey manufacturing services, including raw ingredient sourcing, product development, packaging development, testing, manufacturing, logistics and shipping.

Products & Ingredients

We offer a wide range of products development and formulation options across the following four key categories

You can rest assured that everything we develop will meet USDA/NOP, NSF/ANSI, and/or NPA requirements, and will be free of parabens, phthalates, sulfates, propylene glycol, petrochemicals, silicones, synthetic dyes and aluminum.

As the pioneer and leader in natural and organic personal care manufacturing, we are proud to produce all of our clients’ and our own branded products in our USDA-certified organic manufacturing facility in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.  We operate two neighboring facilities that total 18,000 square feet of space and house our compounding, filling, packing and logistics functions. Additionally, we have over 10,000 square feet of warehousing space.

USDA Organic

Sensible Organics was the first personal care manufacturing facility in the world to be USDA-certified organic.  The mission of the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) is to ensure the integrity of USDA organic products in the U.S. and throughout the world. The National Organic Program (a.k.a. the NOP) is the official USDA Agricultural Marketing Service program.  They are responsible for developing national standards for organically- produced agricultural products. These standards assure consumers that products carrying the USDA organic seal meet consistent, uniform standards.

Leaping Bunny

The Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics’ (CCIC) Leaping Bunny Program administers a cruelty-free standard and the internationally recognized Leaping Bunny Logo for companies producing cosmetic, personal care, and household products. The Leaping Bunny Program provides the best assurance that no new animal testing is used in any phase of product development by the company, its laboratories, or suppliers. To learn more, visit

The NSF/ANSI 305 Personal Care Products Containing Organic Ingredients, has been developed as part of the ongoing efforts of a number of interested parties to encourage participation in the manufacturing of personal care products using organically grown ingredients within the supply chain. The NSF/ANSI 305 certification requires beauty companies to formulate products with 70-95% organic material. The remaining percentage can be made up with natural ingredients hat have been approved by the NSF/ANSI organization.

Stakeholders involved in developing the Standard included regulatory/public health, industry, trade associations, ingredient suppliers, general interest and product certifiers. The scope of this standard includes, but is not limited to, rinse-off/leave-on personal care products, cosmetic products, oral care and personal hygiene products.

Oregon Tilth

Organic Trade Association

The Organic Trade Association (OTA) is the membership-based business association for the organic industry in North America. OTA’s mission is to promote and protect organic trade to benefit the environment, farmers, the public, and the economy. OTA envisions organic products becoming a significant part of everyday life, enhancing people’s lives and the environment.
OTA represents businesses across the organic supply chain and addresses all things organic, including food, fiber/textiles, personal care products, and new sectors as they develop. Over sixty percent of OTA trade members are small businesses.

Quality Assurance Inc.

Quality Assurance International (QAI) is a U.S.-based international organic certification company that is authorized by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as “a USDA-accredited certifying agent that operates globally to certify organic operations to National Organic Program standards.” It is a for-profit corporation, established in 1989, and headquartered in San Diego, California.

National Products Association

To protect and equip consumers to maximize their well being, NPA developed the Natural Standard and Certification for Personal Care Products, a set of guidelines that dictate whether a product can be deemed truly “natural.” The standard encompasses all cosmetic personal care products regulated and defined by the FDA.

The NPA Natural Standard is based on natural ingredients, safety, responsibility and sustainability.

Natural Ingredients: A product labeled “natural” should be made up of only, or at least almost only, natural ingredients and be manufactured with appropriate processes to maintain ingredient purity.

Safety: A product labeled “natural” should avoid any ingredient with a suspected human health risk.

Responsibility: A product labeled “natural” should use no animal testing in its development.

Sustainability: A product labeled “natural” should use biodegradable ingredients and the most environmentally sensitive packaging.

Under the Natural Standard for Personal Care Products, allowed ingredients come from or are made from a renewable resource found in nature (flora, fauna, mineral), with absolutely no petroleum compounds.

We are proud of our strong partnerships with our contract manufacturing clients.
